Just a quick post showing the speedo housing. More in case someone is hunting for a photo of the little bits. I stupidly didn’t take a photo that included the actual speedometer drive gear.
All the bits, except for the main gear. I replaced the O rings on the little drive shaft assembly. One is a seal that sits in the recess at the end of the brass housing. It is square shaped and a specific land rover part. The other sits in the recess on the outside of the brass piece, and is just a normal O ring.
And here it is back together with a new oil seal. The gear in the background is the old reverse gear, nothing to do with the speedo, except that I used it to press in the oil seal. Which I don’t recommend as it was slightly small and slightly bent the seal, but I think it will be fine… Actually, the box is back in the vehicle now (I’m a way behind with the posts) and this seal does leak, but I think it’s the output flange that is worn that is causing the leak.
